IJsselmonde, roads to well-being
In IJsselmonde, Track is working with 'Het Kollektief' on transition proposals for IJsselmonde.
The ways in which we move ourselves, how we travel and how we transport goods are changing. Modern technologies can make transport safer, smoother and cleaner. This is necessary because the current system, based on fossil fuels, contributes to global warming. A wide range of sustainable alternatives is emerging. But how do you ensure that this transition is not only for the 'happy few' who can invest themselves? How do you ensure that everyone benefits from this transition? Each alternative with the associated infrastructure brings with it spatial change. The mobility transition can be used to improve the liveability of the city and the quality of the public space. Which interventions fit in a car-dominated, post-war district such as GrootIJsselmonde?
Questioning
With this design research we explore the (spatial) impact of the mobility transition in GrootIJsselmonde. We consider mobility in the broadest possible sense: every movement outside the front door, from a walk through the park to commuting, is a travel movement with its own (spatial) boundary conditions. The goal is to contribute to the use of the developed knowledge and design proposals to the use of the mobility transition as a lever for the
improving the spatial quality of GrootIJsselmonde and an optimal, integrated realisation of various transition tasks.
